Yes, we all can! Think of therapy as an opportunity to explore the what, when, where, why, and how of your past and present path while we work together to promote wellness for your future.
01. Can I benefit from therapy?
• Therapy is an additional tool of support that can be added to your toolbox.
• Therapy can help you understand your feelings, behavior, and emotions.
• Therapy can support with identifying challenges or places you may feel “stuck”. We work together to create and sustain change that feels right to you.
• Therapy fosters self-exploration and understanding that helps restore balance.
• Therapy provides coping strategies and tools to support with physical, mental and emotional regulation.
• Therapy is beneficial in helping to achieve holistic goals, embracing change, and deepening your understanding of who you are today; with yourself and with others.
• Therapy is where we learn and unlearn in a safe and non-judgmental space that we create together.
02. What are the specific benefits of therapy?
I work from a client centered approach meaning I meet you where you are at and we will only move at a pace that you are comfortable with. You should feel respected and accepted as you choose to share the different parts of your life and your experiences.
I will invite you to share on challenges that you may be struggling with. Together we will work towards understanding and resolving those challenges with the goal of moving closer to restoring a sense of wellness that feels best for you.
03. What is a therapy session with you like?
Everything, anything and nothing is normal! All feelings are okay when starting therapy (this includes the consultation part!); sadness, happiness, frustration, emptiness, knowing, not knowing, excited, nervous and all the spaces in-between. Come as you are, even if you are unsure of what to say, how to say it, what to feel, or why you are feeling it. Therapy is a partnership between you and I. You’re courageous step is reaching out. My step towards you is guiding you through the process.
04. WHAT SHOULD I FEEL BEFORE STARTING THERAPY?
Sessions can be on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis.
We can have as many or as little sessions that feel comfortable for you. We can always increase or decrease the frequency depending on your needs. If you are unsure, we can chat about it together and decide what feels best for you.
05. HOW OFTEN DO WE HAVE SESSIONS?
The number of therapy sessions is entirely up to you.
Therapy can be used as a brief service in order to provide solution focused support with the goal of gaining a general understanding of what’s going on for you. We can do this through therapeutic crisis intervention services.
Therapy can also be beneficial on a medium to long term basis. This will provide an opportunity for deeper understanding and therapeutic change as we understand the roots of who you are, experience your thoughts, feelings and understand patterns, behaviors, and the “how come and why” together. We can do this through individual or couples therapy.
Every individual needs will vary and we are happy to support you exactly where you are. Therapy is a process that can continue for a period of time, for several weeks, months, years, or be started and restarted when it feels best for you.
Therapy is a journey that is entirely up to you. My role is to support you in any which way that feels most beneficial for you.
06. HOW MANY THERAPY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Most employment benefit plans cover a percentage or the total fee of therapy sessions that are provided by a Registered Social Worker. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm your coverage percentage.
After every session, an invoice with all the necessary information will be provided to you. You can then submit this invoice to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
